The Leicestershire Bowling Association was founded in
1921 and is affiliated to Bowls England.

PRESIDENTIAL GREETING
Gentlemen, fellow bowlers and friends.
It is indeed a privilege and an honour to be elected and serve as your
President for 2010. With great pride I look forward to the opportunity
you have afforded me. I thank my Club St. Margaret’s Co-Operative for
their support, also Goodwood B C for seconding my nomination.
Last year Rick Morris brought a
degree of light heartedness to the Presidency, without compromising on
the dignity and protocol, proving that there is a place for both. I
would hope to follow his lead in a similar vein (minus the black bag of
course)
The year ahead promises to be a
challenge in more ways than one. Firstly we have a new secretary in Rick
Moore (replacing perhaps an even harder act to follow in Roger
Kirkpatrick). I am looking forward to working closely with Rick as I
believe we are on the same wavelength, as are the other Officers and
members of the FG&P Committee. We are a team all working for
Leicestershire. Secondly the challenges on the green, last year saw
great successes in winning the National Rinks, the County Double Fours
and the Midland Counties Trophies at Senior and Under 25 levels. It will
take a lot of effort and teamwork to emulate but with the guidance of,
and support for, our team managers Norman Burns and Maurice Taylor I’m
sure we can do it. Thirdly the most important challenge of
all…ourselves. We are not alone as a County in facing and coming to
terms with the RTC (resistance to change) factor, unification and dress
code, to name but two of the abrasive subjects that some find difficulty
with. If we apply the other RTC factor (respect, tact & consideration)
for one another, be it players or administrators, and at every level,
the game that we all love will be the winner. Finally may I wish you all
a happy and enjoyable year ahead when both Mary and I look forward to
meeting as many of you as possible be it on the green or socially.
